About me
I am a professor at York University, a registered psychotherapist, and candidate psychoanalyst at the Lacan School of Psychoanalysis. I am also an artist.
Psychoanalytic Scholarship
My scholarship lies in Lacanian psychoanalysis, transgender studies, queer theory, and feminist theory. I have authored over 50 book chapters, journal articles, and reviews (combined) and published two books.
Scholarly Designations
I am past president of the Canadian Sexuality Studies Association and former Sexuality Studies Coordinator at York University. I co-edit the Australian Feminist Studies journal and sit on the editorial boards of Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society; Studies in Gender and Sexuality; and Parapraxis magazine.
Psychoanalytic Presentations
I have given presentations at the Freud Museum, the Anna Freud Centre, the Lacan School of Psychoanalysis, the Tampa Bay Psychoanalytic Association, the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society, and at multiple psychoanalytic conferences affiliated with the International Psychoanalytic Association and the New Lacan School.
Journal Publications
My psychoanalytic research has been published in peer-reviewed international journals including: The Psychoanalytic Review; MAMSIE: Studies in the Maternal; European Journal of Psychoanalysis; Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society; Studies in Gender and Sexuality; Angelaki: Journal of the Theoretical Humanities; and Humanities.
Edited Collections
I edited a special double issue of the journal Transgender Studies Quarterly on psychoanalysis, co-edited a special issue of Psychoanalysis, Culture & Society on the psychoanalysis of Bracha L. Ettinger along with Julián Daniel Gutiérrez-Albilla, and co-edited Skin, Culture and Psychoanalysis (Palgrave Macmillan) with Angela Failler and Rachel Hurst. I am currently co-editing a Special Issue on transgender studies in the Australian Feminist Studies journal.
